"Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." - Luke 5:4
Monday Evenings | Tuesday Mornings | Wednesday Evenings

The great St. Jerome once wrote that ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. Catholics may not be familiar with chapters and verse, but any Catholic who faithfully attends Holy Mass is well familiar with the story of Salvation History contained in Sacred Scripture because each Sunday Mass contains at least four readings which are proclaimed or prayed... generally (1) a selection from the Old Testament, (2) a Psalm, (3) a selection from the New Testament epistles, Acts or Revelation, and (4) a selection from one of the four Gospels. The homily serves to explain the readings and apply them to our present lives. Plus, many of the prayers of the Mass are scripturally grounded.
Yet, there is much to be said for Catholics to gather in the Church to participate in bible studies. Here at St. Peter Chanel, we are blessed to have several opportunities each week to do so. Take a look below at the current offerings and join in as we encounter Christ in His Sacred Word.
Bible Studies are held for adults on Monday and Wednesday evenings and on Tuesday mornings.

(Begins September 14th)
Monday Evenings in Classroom 1
7:00pm to 8:45pm
Instructors: Bill and Ellen Lowderman
A clear understanding of the underlying Scriptural narrative is essential to all Bible reading and study, and for this reason The Bible Timeline is the first foundational study in The Great Adventure Bible Study Series. A combination of individual reading and study, group discussion, and lecture commentary guides participants as they read through the 14 narrative books of the Bible and discover the meaning of each in light of the whole. The Bible Timeline is an immensely rich study, diving deep into each time period of salvation history.
The Bible Timeline is basic enough to suit those who haven't studied the Bible before while at the same time offering ways to go deeper that will challenge the Bible study veteran. Salvation history is covered from its beginning in Genesis through the coming of Christ and the establishment of the Catholic Church.
This is a stand-alone study that does not require any previous bible study.

"The Exodus can be viewed as the defining moment in Israel’s history, for it was then that God called Israel out of slavery in Egypt and to a life of freedom as His people. Exodus: Called to Freedom looks through the lens of Christ and the Church to show that, more than just seeking to free His people from the domination of Pharaoh, God desired to free His people from the far more sinister tyranny of sin, so they could live the authentic freedom that belongs to children of God. Because of this, the Exodus story is not just Israel’s story, it is our story as well; it tells us who God is and what He calls us to be."
This class will combine the Dr. Tim Gray DVD presentation of the Jeff Cavin's Exodus bible study with additional instruction and Q&A led by Deacon Mike Bickerstaff.
This is a stand-alone study that does not require any previous bible study.
