Sunday Morning Bible Study
Eternal Life Bible Study (Little Rock Scripture Study)
Sunday 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. (begins 1/13/2013)
in the Blessed Trinity High School Media Center
Facilitators: Bill and Ellen Lowderman
The biblical promise of eternal life appears late in Scripture, but it blossoms into fullness with the resurrection of Christ. Explore the growing nature of the hope of those who have called upon the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the past, and the crystallization of our hope for eternal life in the victory of Christ over death. Those with some familiarity with Scripture will find it both inspiring and informative as the hope of eternal life develops and crystallizes through the sweep of salvation history.

The Catholic Church and Bible Study
The great St. Jerome once wrote that ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. Catholics may not be familiar with chapters and verse, but any Catholic who faithfully attends Holy Mass is well familiar with the story of Salvation History contained in Sacred Scripture because each Sunday Mass contains at least four readings which are proclaimed or prayed... generally (1) a selection from the Old Testament, (2) a Psalm, (3) a selection from the New Testament epistles, Acts or Revelation, and (4) a selection from one of the four Gospels. The homily serves to explain the readings and apply them to our present lives. Plus, many of the prayers of the Mass are scripturally grounded.
Yet, there is much to be said for Catholics to gather in the Church to participate in bible studies. Here at St. Peter Chanel, we are blessed to have several opportunities each week to do so. Choose a time that best meets your needs.
