donate adult edThe Adult Education Department at St. Peter Chanel offers many opportunities throughout the year to hear exciting and inspiring speakers present on topics that will increase your knowledge and love of the Lord and assist you to integrate faith, family and work in practical terms.

Parish Missions

Parish Missions are offered each Lent and during the Fall. Missions are usually led by visiting clergy or religious on Monday through Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Parish Penance Services are included on the Wednesday evening of the mission.

SPC Major Speakers Series

The SPC Major Speakers Series brings you today's very best and most sought-after national and international Catholic speakers, priests, deacons, religious, scripture scholars, apologists, educators and many others.

Presenters for the Major Speakers Series in 2010 and 2011 include: Archbishop Wilton Gregory, Dr. Tim Elmore, Dr. Ed Sri, Dr. Aine Donovan, Lorraine and Jef Murray among others. We will be hosting the National Catholic Bible Conference in July 2011.

Past presenters have included: Jeff Cavins, Patrick Madrid, Steve Ray, Matthew Kelly, Pat Lencioni, Allen Hunt, Dr. Peter Kreeft (Boston College), Chris Lowney, Dr. Phil Thompson (Emory University), Jim Nolan and Dr. Michael Naughton (St. Thomas University).

ACBC

The Annual Atlanta Catholic Business Conference is hosted by St. Peter Chanel each January on a Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The Conference is directed to all Christians, especially the Catholic business and professional community, who wish to more deeply understand the role of faith in the workplace. The mission is to invest deeply in attendees' knowledge and understanding of how to integrate their lives and let their Christian faith guide their actions in the secular business world.

The 3rd Annual Atlanta Catholic Business Conference was held on January 29, 2011 and included Archbishop Wilton Gregory as the keynote speaker. Please check out the Events page for details of current programs.

Guest Speakers Series

Three times each month from September through April, popular local speakers come to SPC, including priests, deacons, religious and lay persons. These speakers present on a variety of topics that include both a spiritual/religious and practical faith element. They are hosted by:

 

Faith At Work

Faith At Work (SPC Business Association) is a ministry outreach of SPC Adult Education. We strive to promote a Unity of Life, centered in Christ, that helps Catholic men and women integrate faith and work. Usually meets the second Tuesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

 

MAC

SPC Marriages Are Covenants, or "MAC" for short, a ministry outreach of the Adult Education Department designed to help define the Sacrament of Matrimony as a sacred covenant between God and the husband and wife. The ministry will meet monthly on a Saturday evening for fellowship and to help give couples of our parish and surrounding area tools from a Catholic perspective to enrich their marriage. Many of these meetings include a meal and are perfect for a date night. Usually meets the second or third Saturday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (starts at 6:45 p.m. if dinner is offered). CBC

Catholic Business Cafe, a spiritual outreach of the Atlanta Catholic Business Conference and the Adult Education Department offering the opportunity for prayer, table discussion, coffee and connecting to Atlanta area Catholic business people. A light breakfast is included. Usually meets the last Friday of the month immediately following the 6:45 a.m. Mass from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. You are encouraged to join us for Mass.

 

Ideas

Ideas and Issues Forum, an outreach of the Atlanta Catholic Business Conference and the Adult Education Department that presents panel discussions and Q&A on relevant business topics. The panels are comprised of Atlanta Catholic business leaders seeking to assist you to inform your business practices and decisions by your Catholic faith. The forum takes place four times each year.

 

Motherhood

Motherhood: The Heart of the Family, an outreach ministry of St. Peter Chanel Adult Education that strives to strengthen the vocation and deepen the spirituality of wives and mothers. Facilitators include, Cherie Czabala, Traci O'Neil, Laura Schwartz and Cecilia Smith; our chaplain is Deacon Mike Bickerstaff.
