How to Supercharge and Strengthen Your Marriage
Please join us for the first MAC meeting for 2010-2011. We are excited to welcome as our guest speaker, Sandra H. McKay, BSN, MEd, LMFT who will speak on "How to Supercharge and Strengthen Your Marriage". Doors open at 6:45pm for fellowship and a pizza dinner, followed by our speaker at approximately 7:00pm.
Do you know a couple whose marriage is in trouble? Do you know couples who are divorced? Do you think it can't happen to your marriage? Sandra will discuss the warning signals that our marriage needs more care and attention. She will provide practical assistance to help us recognize these red flags, what they mean and how we can avoid or respond to them.
Speaker Bio:
Sandra H. McKay, BSN, MEd, LMFT, is a graduate of Emory University School of Nursing in 1969 and Georgia State University School of Education in Counseling in 1975. She is a cradle Catholic who has been married for 26 years and has two grown children.
Sandra has been in private practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 26 years also contracting with Catholic Social Services. She has worked at inpatient settings for Georgia Mental Health Institute, Emory Clinic, Peachtree Parkwood Psychiatric Hospital, including administrative positions in staff development and hospital administration. Sandra has designed and implemented Psychiatric Nursing programs at Mary Hitchcock Hospital at Dartmouth College, as well as Dekalb College.
Sandra taught psychology in the college setting, and has authored and taught widely used programs in her diocese for couples' enhancement, men's and women's issues, premarital preparation, and parenting. She was on the Bishop's Advisory Board for six years during the scandals and assisted in writing the prevention manuals for her diocese.
As president co-founder of the Catholic Psychotherapy Association (CPA), she has great hope that mental health professionals, academicians, and theologians will come together in the Catholic Psychotherapy Association to follow the advice given by Pope John Paul II to utilize the good that has been discovered within psychology, while never abandoning the wisdom and truth as taught by the Holy Catholic Church.
Mission:
Marriages Are Covenants "MAC" is designed to help ordinary, everyday married couples to strengthen their marital bond and see their marriage come alive with the purpose and passion God intends. We will provide both Catholic teaching and practical "how-to" that is compelling and effective. MAC emphasizes the Sacrament of Matrimony as a sacred covenant between God and the husband and wife.
We gather as married couples for fellowship, a meal, a presentation by guest speakers and discussion on a topic relevant to married couples, a Q&A session and prayer. Our members describe the evening as a perfect date night.
