Service, Prayer & Liturgy, Community, Learning

crossgloryThe teen program at St. Peter Chanel is built on the principles of service, prayer and liturgy, community, and learning.

SERVICE

Once confirmed, teens are called to an adult role in the church. Service is the center of that commitment. Teens preparing for Confirmation are asked to provide service as an introduction to fully living out their faith. Multiple service projects provide all teens the opportunity to fully live out their faith in service to others. A list of current service projects and permission forms are located on the Service Page found by selecting the Service Projects tab.

PRAYER AND LITURGY

Prayer is essential in developing a relationship with God. Our teen program sponsors a teen prayer chain, seasonal retreats, reconciliation services and adoration events. The Sunday 5:00 PM mass focuses on teens. This mass includes contemporary music, teen greeters, ushers, lectors and Eucharistic Ministers. Teens are always needed to serve in these liturgical roles. Contact Megan Kyle at mkyle@stpeterchanel.org to become involved in any of the liturgical ministry. Training for these ministries is required.

Join our prayer chain! Have a prayer intention for a teen or from a teen? Provde us with your email address and intentions will be emailed to you so you can help pray for members of our community. Contact Megan Kyle at mkyle@stpeterchanel.org

LEARNING

Our Catholic Faith offers us a rich body of teachings and traditions. Teens need to know those teachings as they become fully initiated members of the church. Learning opportunites include PSR classes on Sunday morning and evening and Bible Studies on Wednesday evenings. Our teen sessions follow "Total Faith Initiative" by St. Mary's Press.

COMMUNITY

Our teens come from a variety of high schools around the area and are encouraged to form a community with others at the parish level. Fellowship is held every Sunday evening following the 5:00PM Sunday evening Mass. Teens gather in the Teen Lounge for pizza, socialize, then gather to reflect on the Gospels. Registration is not necessary to participate in Fellowship. Invite us as a facebook friend (St. Peter Chanel) and we will keep you up to date or you can select the Calendar tab.
