PRESCHOOL (3-Year-olds & 4-year-olds)

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Meets either on Tuesday Afternoon at 3:30 or
Sunday morning at 9:00 and 10:45.

These sessions follow a Montessori format and are held in a specially equipped "Atrium" found in classroom 5 of the St. Peter Chanel building.

Sunday Morning PSR Sessions

Meets at 9:00 and 10:45.

Traditional preschool classroom setting the cirriculum focus is on Bible stories. Children learn about Jesus and other Bible heros through games, songs, stories, crafts and special learning events. The curriculum is based on "Sharing God's Story" by Harcourt Religion Publishers. All preschool sessions are held in St. Peter Chanel building classrooms.

Sunday Morning Sessions

Meets at 9:00-10:15AM or 10:45-Noon. Sunday sessions held at Blessed Trinity High School.

Wednesday Afternoon Sessions

Meets at 4:30-5:45PM. Wednesday Sessions held in St. Peter Chanel Classrooms.

Curricula:

These sessions follow a traditional classroom setting with an emphasis on fellowship and active learning. The curriculum is based on "Finding God Series" by Loyola Press. To view a syllabus, click on grade level listed below:

Throughout the year grade level groups gather for active learning experiences based on a theme that explores a teaching or tradition of the church. These events are held during regular PSR times. Children who are home schooled or those attending Catholic School are welcome to attend but asked to email us so that we are prepared to accomodate additional children.

December 2, 2007 Grade 3 Learning about Advent: Make an Advent Wreath for your family and learn about this wonderful season.
December 9, 2007 All Grades Parish Mission at PSR: Hear from our special guest speakers as we explore forgiveness.
December 16 (19), 2007 All Grades Nativity Stations: Explore the Nativity with activities and games.
February 10, 2008 Grade 4 Lent: Explore the customs and traditions of this special season.
March 2 (5), 2008 Grade 2 TBA
March 16 (12), 2008 Kindergarten Palm Sunday: Holy Week and Palm Sunday lessons in an active format.
March 26 (30), 2008 Grades 1 & 2 Stations of Light Celebration: Learn all about these newest mysteries of the rosary.
April 27, 2008 Grades 3-5 Faith-Filled Baseball:Review of church teachings by playing baseball. Score homeruns with all you've learned.
May 4 (April 30), 2008 All Holy Spirit Event: End our PSR year with a celebration of the Spirit in all of us.

HOMESTUDY

Any family may elect to home school their children. All training opportunities and parish resources can be made available for this purpose. Home school families register with the parish, attend an initial orientation meeting and provide feedback to the Director of Religious Education at regular intervals to access the strengths and weaknesses of the program. Families in a home study program during a sacrament year will celebrate sacraments at the same celebration with the entire parish community.
