Stewardship and Giving
O GOD, GIVER OF LIFE
STEWARDSHIP PRAYER
O Lord, giver of life and source of our freedom, we are reminded by the Psalmist that Yours is "the earth and its fullness; the world and those who dwell in it." We know that it is from your hand that we have received all we have, and are, and will be.
Gracious and loving God, we understand that You call us to be the stewards of Your abundance, the caretakers of all You have entrusted to us. Help us always to use Your gifts wisely and teach us to share them generously.
May our faithful stewardship bear witness to the love of Christ in our lives. We pray with grateful hearts, in Jesus' name.
Amen
What is Stewardship?
In the minds of many "Stewardship" has simply become equivalent to money. For some it has no meaning to their lived faith. At St. Peter Chanel, Stewardship is more about attitude, action, and belief. It is with a joyous, grateful, faithful heart that we return a portion of the gifts given us back to God.
-
With GRATITUDE we take the time everyday to recognize the gifts that God has given and to be grateful for them. It is with this awareness that we return a portion or our gifts to God. We do this because we feel a need to show our love and gratitude to God.
-
As DISCIPLES we place God first in all things and strive to follow where Our Lord might lead. We trust and believe in our generous God. We recognize that our unique gifts are meant to shared so that together we can do the work of Our Lord.
-
Aware of our DEPENDENCE ON GOD, we acknowledge that everything we have comes from God and everything we achieve is a result of some gift that God has placed into our hands. Each of us will someday be asked by God to give an accounting of all that we have done with the gifts given to us.
